Seattle Apartment
A great example of an amazing small space is, the Seattle Apartment (16.9m squared). In the video shown below, it shows just how effective a small space can be with the correct design and layout. It shows that a small space can accommodate for every day living, which i need to incorporate. Within the video it states that the reason his design works, because the height isn't the standard height, its 3.1m metres in height. ( i could use this idea within my design) The reason this design works, is the use of different levels to accommodate different spaces, the different levels are not different floors but just different say platforms.

Hivehaus:
the Hivehaus is a fine example of showing how beautifully amazing these small spaces can be. After looking at this design, and others, i have noticed that a lot of them using light neutral colours, this could be to try help minimise how small it feels, the light colours and big openings, allow light to enter.

A space to Jam:
The brief i have set myself implies i need a space within my building to allow John Lennon and The Beatles to jam. The Beatles performed a lot, in a club in Liverpool which has the name the cavern club. They played here a lot before they were famous and before they were signed by Brian Epstein, They played a lot here, so i want to try and make the space in which they jam look and feel similar to this club.
THURSDAY 9 FEBRUARY 1961; The Beatles first performance at the Cavern Club featured John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Stuart Sutcliffe with Pete Best on drums.
The Beatles soon established themselves as the Cavern Club’s signature act. It became the place where their musical identity was forged and many of their fans maintain the band was its best during those lunchtime gigs, learning stagecraft through the exchanges with the audience only inches away. The band were always nostalgic about the Cavern.
Because this club is where The Beatles and John Lennon became the stars in which they were, this is why i want to bring this to my design. I want to incorporate the styles, the feel of the cavern club. To me the cavern club looks enclosed, looks underground and looks dark. I want to bring these features to the jamming space. I will try to minimise natural light as you can see in the photos above, there is no natural light. The pictures also show that the space in which The Beatles are in, does not need to be at a big scale, it can be small and compact to jam.
The Cavern club has a lot of brick arches, which gives it its look. I could try and incorporate these arches to create a balcony area, or even guitar displays. Also the cavern club has relatively low ceilings, so i could try and make this space have a lower ceiling than the rest of the building.

Space Saving Ideas:
I have looked into ways i can use components such as stairs as storage, after some research i have found some great examples of stairways being used as storage spaces as well. I will be encompassing these ideas in to my design, as space is limited and stairs are used as multifunctional making use of the space.
I could use these ideas, by making the stair depth being used as a storage compartment, either face on or on the side.

Bed Size:
I have looked at Uk bed dimensions, to see what bed will be best fit for my life box. As i am limited for space, i need to know this when designing a position of my bed and also what size to make the bed.

Staircase:
After thinking about the staircase, i have come to the conclusion that the space used is gonna be extortionate in terms of the space i have. So i have looked in to ways that i could make the multi functional, and allow the opening to be used also as space on the floor. A few images below, show that i could use a trap door as such to allow this.

In my design there are a few aspects which i need to know certain space saving dimensions, i have looked online to find some dimensions that fit my needs perfectly.
To fit my stairs in the space i have, i wanted to find a space saving design. I have used the dimensions in the image below.

I have used a drum kit in my design idea, and i needed to know how much space The Beatles would need to have the drum in the area i have provided. I found the following image, which shows dimensions of the space needed for the drum kit, so i have used these dimensions.
There is a feature in my design where a guitar display case is built in to the wall, i have found the following product, which is a guitar display case, and i have made sure my display cases's are no smaller than this.
The dimensions are: 1117 X 431 X 139.7 (mm)

I I looked at bathroom dimensions, so that i knew i could fit the neccessary furnishings in the space i provide for my bathroom. I found the following image, and decided to use the longer/narrower bathroom style, and use a shower not a bath.
So the minimum dimensions i shall use for my bathroom is:
- 2438 X 914 mm (8ft X 3ft)
